# Chili oil

I used to believe in just the oil and not the flakes. However, after a surprisingly robust and persistent intervention from my friend [P](https://panthealee.substack.com/), I now believe 80% of the flavor lies in the flakes and Lao Gan Ma should be my preferred brand. I make this decision of my own free will and this was not written under duress.
